L'HABITATION AU LIBAN

Ever since the origins, human dwellings accurately told the intimate story between the people and their landscapes, and the territories on which they settled.
In Lebanon, like elsewhere, dwellings tell us about the soil, stone and earth, where they are rooted, and which provided the materials for walls and terraces.
With the appropriateness of orientation and openings, the thickness of walls, the shady places and construction details, they tell us about the climate, the nearby Mediterranean, the heat of summer sun and
about winter winds and rain.

They tell the story of the people, their work, knowledge and culture.
Then, throughout the centuries, following history's ebbs and flows, the pacific or violent invasions have conveyed towards the territory, ways of building and styles from the East  or the West.
When it was coherent, with the geography and the climate, then the foreign know how blended with the local traditions, diversifying and enhancing them.
The book is about this old and rich tradition.
It is also about the questions that today's modern world brings up, its technologies, its economy as well as the desires and needs of today's society.
